ABOUT

OCG-Data

The primary functions of the OCG-Data are to:

– characterize the metocean conditions at offshore sites for the development of wind farms with unprecedented accuracy using a lidar and other state-of-the-art instruments
– collect a complete set of information on avian and marine biodiversity in order to cooperate with environmental stakeholders early during the development phase of the project, ultimately improving the acceptability of offshore wind.

The buoy is equipped with an integrated SCADA system for the acquisition, processing, and transmission of measurements in real time. Lidar measurements as well as videos, radar, sonar, air and underwater sounds, and a large number of meteorological and physico-chemical sensors are recorded continuously and available to the scientific teams.

THE PROJECT

Blue Oracle

The Blue Oracle project (Buoy with Lidar and Underwater Equipment for Ocean Resource Assessment and Characterization of Life in the Environment) demonstrates that it is possible for a single innovative buoy to replace multiple measurement campaigns in providing data for metocean, aerial and underwater biodiversity.
