Structural Engineer

Description

The structural engineer will be responsible for the structural analysis and development of floating technologies at Ocergy. The responsibilities will include:

  • Perform structural verifications using Finite Element Models or other analysis for the design of steel structures
  • Design and review structures for compliance with offshore design codes and other international standards
  • Review and issue fabrication specifications and fabrication drawings
  • Taking responsibility for material assignment, corrosion protection design
  • Reporting on structural design and interfacing with various project stakeholders
  • Develop tools as needed for the analysis of ongoing projects
    Ocergy is a small company, and there is opportunity to work closely with other disciplines, particularly on the load analysis and naval architecture.

Candidate

Successful candidate will:

  • Be proficient in Finite Element Analysis of thin and thick plates (shell and solid element analysis) and have experience in structural analysis for floating platforms
  • Have extensive experience in the design of steel structure using offshore codes such as ABS, DNV or other international standards
  • Be familiar with general fabrication practices such as welding, steel rolling, etc.
  • Be able to work independently and reach conclusion with minimal guidance
  • Write clear design reports and methodologies
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in English, in remote working situations

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of industry experience
  • Minimum Master of Science in Structural Engineering or equivalent degree with relevant experience.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of FEA tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, Matlab or similar
  • Familiarity with CAD or modelling software
  • Familiarity with offshore wind industry standards for floating structures as well as with general class rules for offshore structures
  • Experience in certification or classification process of structures

Remuneration – expected range of 80k$ to 100k$, commensurate with experience, with full benefit package.
