System Engineer, OCG-Data

Description

OCG-Data is a zero-emission environmental monitoring platform that offers an extensive biodiversity assessment and metocean data acquisition for the characterization of offshore wind sites. Other uses in the maritime field are also being investigated. 

 

Ocergy is looking for a talented hands-on system engineer to contribute to the design and deployment of future platforms.

Job Description:

Major duties and responsibilities include:

– Contribution to the design and engineering of OCG-Data projects, 

– Assimilation of lessons learnt from past projects to create a robust commercial product, 

– Participation in assembly, deployment and operation of OCG-Data platforms, 

– Interface with sensor providers, subcontractors and clients, 

– Calibration of sensors (bird radar, sonar, hydrophones, microphones, lidars, wave and current sensors, cameras…) 

– Signal processing of real-time and archived data  

– Analysis and interpretation of collected data   

– Search for new innovative hardware solutions that could enhance the capabilities of OCG-Data platforms 

 

Depending on the candidate capabilities, it may include the development of AI protocols to enhance data analysis and data collection (video and/or signals from sensor). 

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior engineer, with the potential for fast career evolution within a dynamic team.  

 

This is a full-time remote position. Travel may be needed, for instance to help with installation of future platforms or instruments. For entry-level candidates, the preferred location is in Paris or Marseille. All employees have access to an office in Paris or Marseille if desired. Career development opportunities available. 

Requirements

Successful candidate will:

  • Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Controls, Naval Architecture or similar) – 2-3 years of experience if possible
  • Data acquisition and processing skills
  • Capacity to understand quickly how a new sensors function
  • Academic or on the job training on signal processing techniques
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to code in Python, Matlab; C if possible
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Offshore knowledge if possible
